May 2023 Newsletter
It is now just under three weeks to the 4th ACETA industry convention, and in the countdown to the gathering that connects and reconnects, we will be sending brief snippets on topical issues and a sample of some that will be addressed at this empowering event.
CYBER SECURITY
To establish optimal cyber security ACETA has contracted https://www.dspit.com.au/ to help manage, backup, and secure ACETA’s data storage in the cloud, whilst ACETA management will continue to maintain secure local facilities. Aside from the responsible protection of sensitive member and industry information, it was also necessary, given the expanding program regime moving forward including accreditation, where a greater amount of member information will be received and require secure archiving. Our new security arrangements should be in place in around a month.
ARCHIVE OF EXCELLENCE SPONSORSHIP
The responsibility of saving our industries heritage is priceless, given the importance and meaning to so many, we will be looking at sponsorship to assist defray costs and enable us to grow the ACETA Archive of Excellence to a) improve production and b) increase the number of episodes produced each year. This will be discussed at the convention.
ACCREDITATION
ACETA is a transparent and inclusive member driven peak body and the accreditation initiative is proving one of the most popular programs in front of us. Most of the core aspects have been completed and will be presented at the convention, including product and services compliance documentation. We would therefore ask that you think about the many and various aspects that need constituent buy-in including cost recovery fee structure, application process, program management and promotion to name a few. You will have the opportunity to input at the convention.
JOBS and SKILLS COUNCIL (JSC)
Late last year the federal government announced the establishment of Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs), to provide industry with a stronger, more strategic voice in ensuring Australia’s VET (Vocational and Education Training) sector delivers stronger outcomes for learners and employers. The JSCs will identify skills and workforce needs for their sector, map career pathways across education sectors, develop VET training products, support collaboration between industry and training providers to improve training and assessment practice and act as a source of intelligence on issues impacting their industries.
JSCs are supported with grants and this seems one of the best opportunities our industry has in confronting a deteriorating skills and labor shortage. This will also be tabled at the convention. For the complete convention program go to https://www.aceta.org.au/convention-2023.html.
