There is no Reward in Sitting on the Sideline

Membership on the board of management of a not-for-profit industry association is an experience any aspirant will benefit from. Aside from the responsibility and privilege, they will experience the world through different glasses, offering insights far beyond one’s own corporate environment, a personal development opportunity and networking benefit.

Any bona-fide ACETA member can nominate an individual for board of management membership. Given the progressive and visionary program awaiting us next year, whilst contending with impending current board member retirements, we need to increase board of management numbers and welcome new candidates, vital to ACETAs leadership succession planning.

As recently advised, most organizations in the service and support sector, who historically qualified as associate members, will qualify as general members effective 1st January 2023. The benefits accorded a member, include the right to nominate for board of management membership. This change was brought about by associate member representations at this year’s industry convention, with all in attendance accepting and embracing the rationale presented. This also presents ACETA with a larger and more diverse skill base to perpetuate the all-important management team moving forward. Associate membership remains available for industry media, trade events, educators, marketing support organizations and allied industry associations.

The next new ACETA board of management will be formed at the 2023 Annual General Meeting which will take place at the industry convention on Saturday the 6th May 2023. Therefore, there is ample time for all members to consider being part of their peak bodies management team, an organization that is steadily increasing its role and influence at a pivotal time in our industries history.
