In the Beginning

In Melbourne on the 10th September 2009 and in Sydney on 1st October 2009, 2 meetings were held with a combined attendance of 35 of the major suppliers for the audio & lighting sector in response to an open letter from ten suppliers to the entire industry.

It was apparent that the overwhelming majority of respondents to the letter were concerned with a number of issue’s confronting our industry. These include the state of the current trade show schedule, lack of a common industry voice and the need to work in a more co-operative environment, to the benefit of the industry.

The meetings were held to determine what the industry required and how it resolved to achieve the common aspirations that would benefit the industry both now and into the future.

It was unanimously agreed that the industry needed a united voice, a Peak Body. It was resolved to investigate the formation of an Association, either as a self managed entity or affiliated with an existing allied party
