Some feel there are two distinct streams: technical (engineering/art) and commercial (business). Melding them together in a normally accepted process is as follows:
- The birth of an idea. This can happen organically or in a planned manner.
- Test the idea. The plan here is to identify relevance and potential and the capability of resourcing it.
- Develop and test. The engineering and commercial aspects would often proceed together.
- Business analysis. This includes costing, production anticipated sales volume and issues relating to profitability
- Product and market testing. This includes beta testing of product along with market place feedback in its various forms.
- Implement technical and production programs. This includes infrastructure, resourcing and quality control programming
- Develop and implement marketing programs. This includes product launch, advertising, merchandising concepts and distribution networks.
- Good luck
