Desley Lodwick - GAICD
Being raised by a fitter and turner and librarian in Central Queensland Australia awakened an early curiosity and desire for learning that has led to an eclectic and, at times, exhilarating career. I’ve been a computer programmer, educational leader, business developer during the dot.com era, Managing Director of a global IT company and now, co-founder of Aberrant Learning.
Having developed an appreciation of the extraordinary demands placed on leaders and an understanding of what makes contemporary workplaces tick, why people get stuck and what to do about it, in 2016 I completed a PhD (Contextualist coaching for complex times); an innovation in how to think about and facilitate adult learning.
Not afraid to have difficult conversations from a place of integrity and deep respect, my current focus is on supporting people to make progress in even the most challenging of circumstances. I do this through coaching individuals and groups, facilitating developmental workshops, and delivering interactive keynotes aimed at inspiring, informing, and facilitating action.
I am on the Board of the Growth Edge Network and the Victorian leadership committee of Professional Speakers Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. My book Aberrant Learning: because your best is yet to come will be released in 2022.
A keyboard player (and want-to-be drummer) in a rock band, I live with my musician husband and two white Turkish Angora rescue cats.
