ACETA Management Update-October 2025
The ACETA board of management have just departed South Australia, having hosted an industry open house networking event for the local entertainment technology sector on Tuesday evening the 28th October 2025 and a board meeting on Wednesday the 29th. Needless to say, we met many old and new friends and companies, whilst the interaction was most rewarding, an initiative well worthwhile and something we will do again in South Australia, but hopefully in other parts of Australia. Thanks go to Adelaide based ACETA member Novatech for their organisational expertise and obvious commitment to the local industry.
The open house networking event took place at The Light Room Bar located at 63 Light Square, Adelaide an interesting entertainment venue tastefully developed in a facility that was originally a tobacco factory. Around 36 individuals attended to learn of ACETA and its work, availing themselves of a rare opportunity to network with their colleagues, the ACETA board of management members, whilst enjoying complementary drinks and a generous spread of tasty finger food. Many attending organizations expressed a desire to get on board with ACETA, becoming part of the vital movement to enhance the business environment, improve standards and take advantage of benefits delivered in membership. The amount of goodwill expressed on the occasion is a tribute to the local industry, and an endorsement of the course our peak body is steering. To date we have welcomed two new members on board, with three more pending, and a number taking application forms back to management.
The board meeting on the following day was certainly lively and productive; there is much energy being generated by the board, tempered only by available resources. As we know there is always much that can be done, and this is directly enabled by the size of membership, which is certainly heading in an extremely pleasing direction. At the board meeting, planning for the ACETA Annual General Meeting (AGM) was established for Tuesday the 25th November 2025, and the membership is currently being issued with the relevant information. Regarding accreditation, ACETA is now issuing application documentation to all members and associate members, whilst we are currently establishing the inaugural three-member accreditation application assessment panel. A copyrighted ACETA Accredited Member logo is being developed for the exclusive use of accredited members, an important mark that can be used on web sites, in social media, along with marketing and sales documentation. The board meeting also unanimously nominated our next ACETA Archive of Excellence candidate and this will be announced following due process.
In Q1 next year a more expansive and accessible web site will be launched, and this monthly management update publication will be upgraded and become part of a more extensive interaction with the industry, all of which will be achieved by the skills resident internally. There was much more agreed at the board meeting, which will be passed on through this medium and our social media platforms in the coming months.
Finally, I would also take the opportunity to commend all board members, who give of their time in an honorary capacity and travel to ACETA meetings and events at their own expense. No association funds are used for any aspect of attending these occasions, whilst any hospitality such as networking events is sponsored by those who support ACETA and its work.
Until next month
