The February 2025 Industry Report
Full Steam Ahead
On Tuesday the 18th February 2025 the ACETA board of management met in Melbourne to review the association’s purpose, evaluate strengths and weaknesses, identity member/potential member needs, set a new course and strategically plan for the year ahead and beyond. The occasion began in workshop format, followed by a board meeting and concluded with a self-catered dinner and drinks. The day was conducted in an open and progressive setting, many issues were debated and agreed, but the most gratifying outcome was the demonstrable team spirit reflected in the collective can-do attitude, a board of management united in a common purpose.
Some of the strengths identified included;
-ACETA’s vital industry purpose as the only advocate for the sector,
-the inclusive, transparent and progressive Constitution,
-the significant Intellectual Property created over the journey,
-the evolving industry accreditation program,
-the ACETA Archive of Excellence,
-the established organizational experience,
-the contemporary and evolving programs, and
-a motivated, well-balanced and diverse board of management.
Most of the identified ACETA Weaknesses emanate from a smaller than desirable membership number, resulting in inadequate funds, general resources, asset utilization and industry presence. Therefore, one of the important initiatives agreed was the creation of a marketing focus led by industry specialist Jodie Steele, who will develop a marketing plan aimed at increasing ACETA’s industry presence immediately. It was also considered necessary to review membership structure to ensure membership access is available to all industry participants. Leko Novakovic will head up this review, whilst Paul McCarthy will focus on curating the ACETA Accreditation initiative.
Whilst all ACETA board members participate in the associations policies, procedures and programs, where a specific focus is required at a given point in time, an individual(s) will take up a particular responsibility. The board of management in 2025, along with specific roles include:
-Frank Hinton President & CEO
-Deb Sloss Secretary
-Frank Andrewartha Treasurer
-Mark Lownds Vice President
-Julie Hinton Manager
-Leko Novakovic Membership Structure Review
-Paul McCarthy Accreditation
-Jodie Steele Marketing Officer
